Mindfulness MBSR in personal health coaching

Experience mindfulness – classify MBSR – use it responsibly.

 

Contents of the online module:

Mindfulness and MBSR (“Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction”) are among the most successful methods worldwide for dealing constructively with stress, excessive demands and strain. MBSR was developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University Hospital of Massachusetts in 1979 and is based on classic exercise elements such as body awareness, mindful movement, meditation, dealing with thoughts and feelings and self-care.

This module is aimed at personal health coaches who want to gain a sound understanding of mindfulness and MBSR – without teaching MBSR themselves. The focus is on practical self-awareness, role clarity and the competent use of mindfulness within the professional coaching framework.

 

The participants…

  • get a clear picture of what mindfulness is and how it works,
  • understand the structure, target group and effectiveness of the 8-week MBSR program,
  • recognize for which people MBSR is particularly helpful (e.g. for stress, strain, pain, sleep problems, psychosomatic complaints, anxiety or depressive symptoms),
  • experience central exercise elements as self-awareness,
  • strengthen their own presence, awareness and stress competence,
  • clarify the professional boundary between coaching and MBSR teaching,
  • gain confidence in when and how MBSR can be recommended – and when not,
  • practise how mindfulness can be addressed in health coaching in an authentic, resource-oriented and responsible way.

 

The training day combines short theoretical impulses, personal reflection, lively experience and exchange. The aim is to enable health coaches to embed mindfulness into their work in a meaningful way without overstepping their professional role – and at the same time to competently guide their clients towards an MBSR course if desired.

As a leader, seminar leader and MBSR teacher, I have conducted numerous mindfulness courses and experienced how effectively mindfulness reduces stress and strengthens resilience. In my work, I combine mindfulness, BGM expertise and coaching to support people and organizations in staying healthy, acting clearly and mastering challenges more calmly.
